Experience

Mariann has been a qualified occupational therapist since 1983 and has conducted medico-legal assessments since 1998.

She has extensive experience in assessment and program implementation in education, return-to-work assessment and case management; activity focused programs and functional reactivation programs.

Her hospital-based rehabilitation roles have involved geriatrics, orthopaedics, outpatient traumatic brain injury, and stroke. Her career has focussed on social rehabilitation assessments, support needs assessments, training for independence, and graduated return-to-work assessment programs.

She has special interests in pain management and traumatic brain injury. She also works with the Accident Compensation Corporation (NZ), providing support needs assessments and interventions for clients with serious injuries.

She values ongoing education in order to apply the most current knowledge and techniques in the field of occupational therapy.

Mariann is a member of the SIRA panel of health practitioners authorised to give evidence.
